How did you first become interested in healthcare/plastic surgery?
Ever since high school, I have had an interest in medicine and artistic creativity. Once accepted into medical school, I knew from my first operative procedure that surgery was right for me. Combining these interests led me to pursue a career in plastic surgery, and I’m very pleased with that decision.
What are your specialties at the practice?
At The Plastic Surgery Group, I have a special interest in aesthetics, primarily facial, breast enhancement and body contouring.
What is the most rewarding or moving patient story you have encountered so far?
I’ve had so many rewarding experiences over the years. The ones that really stand out are those surgeries where I create a smile for a child born with a severe cleft lip through facial reconstruction. It’s an emotional moment every time.
What is your favorite part about your job?
It’s always wonderful to see a satisfied patient smile once the procedure is complete.
What are you most likely to be doing on a Sunday afternoon?
On Sundays, I’m usually preparing for the coming weeks’ surgeries. This helps me to make sure I’m organized and well-researched for each patient.
Where is your favorite place to visit?
In my free time, you can often catch me at a trout stream when they’re rising or canoeing backwaters in the Adirondacks. These settings help me relax – it’s so peaceful!
What is one of your bucket list items?
I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand and dive the Great Barrier Reef!
What is your favorite activity outside of the office?
When I’m not working, I’m usually hiking, fishing, or gardening. I like to take advantage of the wonderful settings that Upstate New York has to offer.
What is your favorite meal to cook for your friends or family?
My family loves when I cook juicy porterhouse steaks on the grill.
Tell us about a funny vacation story.
Gee, how much time do you have? I’ve actually had several Chevy Chase-type family mishaps. They weren’t funny at the time, but it’s neat to look back on them years later. Family memories can be fun, even the ones that don’t go as originally planned.
