Facelift Options for Any Age

Facelift Options at Any Age

The face is usually the first part of the body to show signs of aging, but you have several options for turning back the clock. We offer 3 different types of facelifts for our patients in Saratoga, Albany, and surrounding areas. People in their early 30s don’t normally need the same treatment as those in their late 60s, so we’ve been careful to offer non-surgical treatments, more extensive surgical procedures, and everything in between to help you look and feel your best, no matter what your age.

In Your 30s: Liquid Facelift

Typically, your 30s are when you begin to notice early signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Most people at this point in their lives do not need surgery to correct these minor issues. A liquid facelift is a highly customizable and non-surgical approach to treating and preventing facial aging.

Using BOTOX® and fillers, a liquid facelift can treat a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Smile lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines
  • Horizontal forehead wrinkles
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Pre-jowls
  • Loss of volume in the cheeks

By addressing various signs of aging with a combination of injectable products all in one treatment, you can achieve extraordinary, yet natural-looking, facial rejuvenation. A liquid facelift is appropriate for a wide range of people because of the safety and biocompatibility of the injectable products used.

A liquid facelift requires little to no downtime. Most patients return to their normal daily routine immediately after their appointments. You may experience minor redness, swelling, and bruising after treatment, but these symptoms will resolve quickly. Additionally, your filler results will be visible immediately. Your BOTOX results, however, will emerge over the course of about 5 to 7 days.

In Your 40s: Mini Facelift

When you reach your 40s, your skin begins to lose elasticity, and your cheeks begin to lose volume. A mini facelift, also known as a limited-incision facelift, works best for patients with this type of moderate facial aging. A mini facelift can correct initial signs of aging and also give you better jaw definition and a more youthful cheek contour.

During the procedure, we reposition the muscle and fatty tissue in the mid and lower face. This results in a subtle, natural-looking change that can last for years.

Because a mini facelift is less extensive than a traditional facelift, it generally has a shorter recovery period. Mini facelift patients generally take up to a week off work. Most feel comfortable being out in public after just a few days, and most of the swelling is gone after 6 weeks.

In Your 50s-60s: Traditional Facelift

In your 50s and 60s, many people lose significant volume in the face. Additionally, the facial contours change as the bones begin to thin out. A traditional facelift restores the natural curvatures of the face and provides the most significant and longest-lasting volume to saggy cheeks and lax skin.

Recovery following a facelift varies from patient to patient, but it generally takes about 10 to 14 days to return to work.  It is not uncommon for the area around the ears to remain somewhat numb during the first few months after your procedure.

Of the 3 types of facelifts, the traditional facelift provides the most dramatic results. During consultation, we will discuss your concerns and evaluate your face before deciding which type of facelift will best suit your needs.
