One of the reasons nonsurgical cosmetic treatments such as dermal filler injections are so popular is that they can be performed quickly and produce results almost immediately. We use fillers such as Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® at our Albany, NY, practice to minimize wrinkles and create a more youthful appearance in a matter of minutes.
The relative ease of cosmetic injectable treatments means patients can conveniently schedule procedures during their lunch breaks and return to work on time. But it’s important to know that even though there isn’t downtime following the injections, most patients do experience fairly significant swelling and minor bruising after getting fillers. That’s especially true for lip augmentation patients. Depending on your desire to keep your treatments private, you may want to take the afternoon off or schedule your injections for later in the day.
Despite those minor side effects, fillers and other injectable treatments provide the kind of subtle results that make these nonsurgical procedures a welcome alternative for patients who aren’t ready for cosmetic surgery. Combining fillers with BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can create a comprehensive facial rejuvenation that is quite satisfying.
What should you expect when you arrive to get fillers?
Before a filler appointment, we consult with patients to learn their concerns, examine their skin, and recommend treatments that we believe will best accomplish their goals. During the appointment, some patients want a topical anesthetic applied prior to the injections. Virtually all fillers are now pre-mixed with lidocaine — a local anesthetic — to help patients remain comfortable.
The length of your appointment depends on the number of areas treated and the severity of the wrinkles or lines. An injection takes only a couple of minutes. You’ll notice changes right away, as the filler gel lifts the skin.
