The Latest Plastic Surgery Inspiration: You!

Visit our Albany plastic surgery practice to get the beautiful look from your favorite photo filter.

You’ve probably heard of men and women seeking plastic surgery to look better in selfies, but now there’s a new twist on the trend. It used to be that patients would bring in photos of their favorite celebrities for breast augmentation, facelift, or rhinoplasty surgery consultations at our Albany practice. Each of our plastic surgeons can attest that we’ve received plenty of requests for features like Angelina Jolie’s lips, Halle Berry’s jawline, and Jennifer Aniston’s nose.

But today, more people are doing something a little different: They’re bringing in their own photos for inspiration.

If you’ve ever given your selfie the Instagram treatment, then you likely can understand the appeal. With one tap of the screen, shadows disappear, wrinkles soften, and skin looks more radiant. Little wonder, then, that patients think about how to make those enhancements permanent.

But can it be done? Here are a few ways we help mimic the photo filter effects:

  • Remove dark circles and bags: For shadows and dark spots under the eyes, we offer a variety of treatments and procedures, including eyelid surgery and injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers. The right treatment for you depends on your age and the extent of enhancements needed.
  • Fix dull skin: To brighten your complexion, I always recommend a professional skin care treatment, such as microdermabrasion or a chemical peel. These therapies gently exfoliate and polish away skin damage to reveal a natural glow.
  • Get a golden tan: Photo filters bring out the best in our skin tone and in turn can enhance hair and eye color. You can easily get the same golden glow with an organic spray tan, which we offer at Spa One at The Plastic Surgery Group.

On a final note, I find the Instagram effect to be a positive trend. How wonderful for people to be empowered to want to be themselves (just enhanced!).
