One of the most notable trends in cosmetic surgery to occur in the past few years is the popularity of the Brazilian butt lift. As an Albany plastic surgeon, I’ve consulted with many patients about this procedure, which creates more pronounced and contoured buttocks using a patient’s own fat.
It’s an effective procedure, but because it involves liposuction to harvest the fat from another location on the patient’s body — such as the abdomen or flanks — it requires downtime to recover. Not everyone can afford to take time off from work or their other responsibilities. That’s why the latest nonsurgical treatment being offered at The Plastic Surgery Group is a Brazilian butt lift using an injectable filler called Sculptra® Aesthetic.
In this post, I’ll talk about what you can expect during and after the treatment, as well as the procedure’s typical cost.
During a nonsurgical Brazilian butt lift, I inject Sculptra Aesthetic — a filler made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). This type of filler naturally stimulates the production of collagen. It increases the fullness of the buttocks to give you the shape you desire, and the procedure only takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Sculptra Aesthetic works gradually, so we generally have patients return for a touch-up appointment about 2 to 3 weeks after their first injections.
The Ideal Candidate
Women and men with little excess fat who want a rounder rear are great candidates for nonsurgical Brazilian butt lifts. That’s because surgical buttock enhancement, as mentioned earlier, requires the patient have excess fat to harvest from areas where it’s less desirable, so it can be transferred to the buttocks (a procedure called fat grafting, or fat transfer). A nonsurgical procedure is also ideal for patients who don’t want to undergo surgery or who can’t take the time needed to recover.
The Recovery & Results
You’ll likely be a little sore after the procedure, but that’s about it. You can leave the office and immediately return to your normal routine. Sculptra is one of the longest-lasting fillers available, and you may continue to enjoy the results for up to 2 years. If you want results that will last for several years, only a surgical Brazilian butt lift can accomplish that.
Costs for cosmetic procedures vary from patient to patient, depending on their specific goals. The cost of a nonsurgical Brazilian butt lift at The Plastic Surgery Group ranges from about $6,000 to $8,000. That’s similar to the price paid by surgical Brazilian butt lift patients, although the range is bit wider.
