Sagging skin, wrinkles and lines can make us look older than we feel and age us prematurely. Though tens of thousands of face lifts are performed every year, not all patients are comfortable choosing the traditional surgical procedure.
Medical advancements of the past few years now allow these men and women to have other nonsurgical options to consider, one of which is Ultherapy® (also referred to less formally as Ulthera), offered in the Capital Region by The Plastic Surgery Group.
Ultherapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses ultrasound energy to promote skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen production. FDA-approved, you’ll see tighter skin around the chin, jawline, neck and brow appear in the months after your procedure.
As Ultherapy is a relatively new procedure, interested Albany plastic surgery patients often have a lot of questions about the experience and recovery.
“One of the most common questions we are asked is, ‘What does Ultherapy feel like?'” according to Dr. Jeffrey Rockmore, board-certified plastic surgeon at The Plastic Surgery Group. “It’s important that we discuss the level of discomfort that you may face. Ultimately, many people find Ultherapy is more comfortable than they anticipated.”
What can I expect during my Ultherapy procedure?
Ultherapy is an office-based procedure that does not require an operating room. Your doctor will initiate the treatment and oversee the procedure with the aid of one of our certified nurses. The procedure typically takes between 45 and 60 minutes, and you are able to return to normal activities afterward.
What does Ultherapy feel like?
Each patient will have slightly different experiences with Ultherapy, but most report minor discomfort as the ultrasound energy is deposited below the surface of the skin. Certain areas of your face, such as near your jaw and eyes, will be more sensitive than other areas. These discomforts occur during the procedure but do not tend to linger after the session is completed.
During your consultation, your doctor can discuss if any medication should be taken prior to the procedure to minimize pain or anxiety. This decision varies from patient to patient.
What should I do if I’m interested in Ultherapy?
Contact The Plastic Surgery Group and schedule your initial consultation. One of our doctors will discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you have. If at that time you would like to schedule your Ultherapy appointment, we’d be happy to do so!
