YES, THIS IS THE SAME LADY !This is a 37 year old woman who presented with the overhanging abdominal skin and fatty tissue and also with fatty tissue deposits in other areas that she did not like. She had tried to lose weight but this was discouraging as it did not contour her. This makes for a very interesting discussion with points that might just help your questions as you review this case. The patient underwent a tummy tuck and liposuction of the back/waist/hips/abdomen with the contouring taking place BEFORE any weight loss. During the surgery, she had about 20 pounds removed and then went on to lose 50 pounds by herself. She also had a touch up liposuction of the upper abdomen as she lost the weight. She was able to get her confidence back after the initial contouring so that the weight loss and the exercise would help her get the toned body that she desired. Her dress size was an 18 before the procedure and with the weight removed with the procedure and with her own weight loss, she is now wearing a size 2....Yes..as in TWO! Pretty awesome heh?A major point to understand is that this patient LOST IN CONTOUR. I mean by this that the patient did not get back any hanging over tissue with the weight loss but merely lost the weight in her newly formed contour. The reverse is true also in that if she gained weight, she would gain in contour and not EVER get back the hanging over tissue. A misconception that might be mentioned here is that a patient gains weight in areas other than the liposuctioned areas. This is not true. Any patient can of course gain weight but they will gain in their newly contoured body. We are born with a certain number of fat cells in our body and they do NOT multiply during our lives. Weight gain or loss is actually reflected by the fat cells that we have getting bigger or smaller. So, the point of this is to say that we basically have changed the number of fatty cells in the body both with the excision of the tissue of the abdomen and with the liposuctioning of fat cells. In the initial consultation, an important point would be to ask if the patient has tried to lose weight. If they failed in their attempts to do so, then this does NOT condemn them to not have the procedure. It might just be the jump start that they need. The patient is seen 10 months after her procedure. Notice the swagger in the post op photo. Pretty neat. Very happy patient with a dramatic result. Again, YES, this IS the same picture. You will see her pictures in my book as we review about 30 or more cases. We are limited to 7 cases on this site so in your review of our website, check out the ADVANCED SEARCH TOOL (red writing after clicking the before and after photos)Please check under the advanced search tool for the LIPOSUCTION category. Over 90% of my patients will have at least a small amount of liposuction to give that WHAMMO result. Many require more to get the desired result.
