WHO WE ARE
At The Plastic Surgery Group, our team is united by a patient-centered approach established decades ago by our founder, Dr. Brandon Macomber. Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are our top priorities. Our group of plastic surgeons and dedicated support staff strive to provide beautiful, natural-looking results and a rewarding patient experience for everyone who visits us for cosmetic surgery.
Strength in numbers
We are proud of the talented group of surgeons we have assembled at The Plastic Surgery Group. Each has been selected not only for his or her exceptional credentials, but also for the unique skills and personal qualities that he or she brings to the practice and our patients.
Each surgeon is a highly trained medical professional in his or her own right, and collectively our team possesses well over a century of medical training and experience. The collaborative environment at The Plastic Surgery Group means our patients benefit from the experience and perspectives of not one but five exceptional surgeons.
Why Choose The Plastic Surgery Group?
We understand that there is no shortage of plastic surgeons in the Upstate NY area. We also know that your choice of surgeon will have a significant impact on your experience and your results. When you choose The Plastic Surgery Group, you can count on the support of an exceptionally qualified team of board-certified surgeons and staff who will achieve the look you want, and keep you safe, comfortable, and happy along the way. We are dedicated to making your cosmetic surgery a rewarding experience that leaves you looking great and feeling more confident.
Advantages of Choosing a Group Practice
At a single-surgeon practice, you get the experience and perspective of only one individual. At The Plastic Surgery Group, our team of doctors has over 130 years of collective medical training and experience in the field. The collaborative nature of our practice allows us to offer an array of options and approaches based on the different backgrounds and perspectives of our surgeons. Our team members support one another, and also motivate one another to stay at the forefront of surgical innovations, all for the ultimate benefit of our patients.
Each of our plastic surgeons has also taken the additional step of earning advanced certifications and maintaining professional affiliations. For instance, our surgeons hold certifications from such organizations as the American Board of Surgery, the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify in plastic surgery of the entire body.
DEDICATION TO PATIENT SAFETY
At our practice in Albany, our plastic surgeons are among the most highly qualified in the field, and we have upheld an outstanding record of patient safety. We have 4 on-site operating rooms for local anesthesia cases, which enable us to safely and conveniently perform procedures like mini-facelifts and mini-tummy tucks.
We perform more complex, time-consuming procedures requiring general anesthesia – procedures like facelifts, breast surgery, and body contouring – at an outpatient ambulatory surgery center adjacent to our office. It has all the safety features of a hospital, including board-certified anesthesiologists. What it does not have is a constant influx of sick patients or a vast, impersonal atmosphere. We’ve chosen this surgical setting for the superior care and safety of our patients, who will receive support from the finest anesthesiologists and nursing personnel in an intimate setting.
A PLEASANT SURGICAL EXPERIENCE
Whether traveling from nearby New York communities or outside of the US for your cosmetic surgery consultation, you’ll be warmly welcomed into our offices. Our dedicated office staff, many of whom have been with us for years, will do everything possible to make your visit as convenient and comfortable as possible, including helping out with travel information.
When you choose The Plastic Surgery Group, you will be valued as a unique individual and treated with professionalism and kindness. Your first visit generally will involve an overview of your medical history, a physical examination, and an extensive discussion of the surgical process. If you choose to schedule surgery, we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to prepare for the surgery itself and the recovery period.
Our surgeons and nursing staff are well trained to maximize your comfort during your procedure. The Plastic Surgery Group takes the time to follow up with patients during the recovery process and our team members are always available to answer patient questions.
COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT
If you are considering integrating skin care treatments such as hair removal or OBAGI® into your cosmetic surgery program, the licensed estheticians in our Skin Care Center can help develop a unique program based on your skin type, skin texture, and concerns you’d like to address. We go beyond simply offering skin care services; we feature an extensive line of products and specially trained staff to pamper your skin with safe, expertly applied treatments.
We always consider the whole patient, and the entire scope of his or her vision for themselves, when developing our treatment plan. We encourage you to see for yourself the remarkable transformations we achieve for the women and men who visit us.
The Importance of Choosing Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons
New York residents who are researching plastic surgeons may be confused by the phrase “board certified.” Most doctors performing cosmetic procedures claim to be board-certified, but patients need to know that there are several medical boards performing certification, and they are not created equal. To be a “board-certified plastic surgeon,” a doctor must complete a plastic surgery residency and pass oral and written examinations administered by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The ABPS is the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) to specialize in whole body plastic surgery. ABPS certification is a mark of distinction for a plastic surgeon.
At The Plastic Surgery Group, we believe our patients want peace of mind when making long-term changes to their bodies. That’s why each of our doctors is an Albany plastic surgeon who has completed at least 5 years of medical residency training, including at least 2 years in a residency program focused on plastic surgery techniques. During this additional training, plastic surgeons learn more about both cosmetic and reconstructive techniques, meaning that they have a better understanding of how to perform surgery to improve both the look and function of body features.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COSMETIC SURGEON AND A PLASTIC SURGEON
You might notice that some doctors in Albany, Saratoga Springs, and Schenectady go by “plastic surgeon” while others refer to themselves as a “cosmetic surgeon.” People are often confused about the distinction between a cosmetic surgeon and plastic surgeon, or may think these terms are synonymous.
In short, there is a big difference. By choosing a plastic surgeon at The Plastic Surgery Group, you are selecting a doctor who has received advanced training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery techniques, a doctor who has a wealth of knowledge and skill that can make a difference when it comes to the safety and artistry of your surgical result.
Even if you don’t choose plastic surgery with us, we want to help you select a highly qualified surgeon by sharing a little more about what makes a plastic surgeon such a good choice for your cosmetic procedure. Remember that any medical doctor can offer to perform cosmetic surgery. Do you really want a “cosmetic surgeon” who has been trained in pediatrics to perform your breast augmentation? Do you trust a gynecologist to perform your tummy tuck? The most important decision you can make when choosing cosmetic surgery is to select a highly qualified surgeon. At The Plastic Surgery Group our surgeons have training and experience in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. For your health and happiness, choose a doctor who is highly trained and deserves your trust.
