Your Thigh Lift Consultation

During your pre-surgery consultation, Dr. Gannon will determine which type of thigh lift procedure will be best for you and where the incisions will be made. The Thigh Lift Procedure

A thigh lift is usually performed with general anesthesia. For an inner thigh lift, the procedure involves small incisions in the inner thigh and groin area. In some instances, a thigh lift also involves the area around the outer thigh and the buttocks. In these cases, the incisions are somewhat longer and may extend from the groin to the buttocks and over to the abdomen.

In both inner and outer thigh lifts, Dr. Gannon will remove excess skin and reposition the remaining skin to create a smoother and firmer contour.

Recovery

Immediately following your thigh lift, you will wear a supportive garment that helps compress the surgical area. This garment is very similar to an elastic girdle and will help reduce swelling and promote the skin around the surgical area to return to its natural tightness.

Inner thigh lifts usually can be done on an outpatient basis, while outer thigh lifts may require a brief hospital recovery of usually just a day or so. Any discomfort that you may feel can be controlled by medications prescribed by your plastic surgeon.

Within several weeks, you’ll notice any swelling and bruising disappearing. In most cases, after 5 or 6 weeks, thigh lift patients can resume most normal activities, including exercise. Within 4 to 6 months, you’ll see the final results of your procedure, featuring a smoother, tighter contour and a more attractive thigh appearance.

Keep in mind that each person heals at a different rate. Dr. Gannon will monitor your recuperation during several follow-up visits.

Before surgery, arrange your living space so that frequently used items are within easy reach to minimize walking and bending during the first few days. You should also prepare loose, comfortable clothing, arrange for someone to assist you for at least the first 24 to 48 hours, and stock up on healthy foods.

Will my thigh lift scars fade over time?

Yes, thigh lift scars typically fade significantly over the course of 12 to 18 months as they mature. Following your surgeon’s scar care instructions, including keeping incisions out of direct sunlight and using recommended topical treatments, can help optimize the appearance of your scars.

His bedside manner was great and was very receptive to me having local instead of general anesthesia (which I asked if it was possible to do). My 1.5 year old son had a large cut on his forehead that was 5 days old, and still bleeding after already seeing both an urgent care and an ER. We went to see Briana Benson, PA at the Plastic Surgery Group and she cleaned up the wound, used local anesthetic, and the placed 4 sutures all in the office with my husband and I were holding our squirming son. She has an amazing way with kids, and she was able to be so confident, professional, and fast when doing this. It was also a precise suture, and will minimize scaring. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would. Hopefully, we will never need a plastics office again for our little one, but if we ever do, we will surely be returning.
