WHAT IS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR MY BREAST IMPLANTS?
When you choose The Plastic Surgery Group for your breast augmentation, you won’t make this decision alone; your surgeon will help you choose the breast implant size best suited for the enhanced look you want. It’s important to understand that breast implants do not come in cup sizes like bras; implants are sized by volume (cubic centimeters, or cc). Your surgeon will determine the right implant size for you based on specific physical features, such as the amount of breast tissue you have right now, and the breast size you’d like to have.
During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to point out to your surgeon photos of women whose breasts are the size you’d like to have. In addition to the patient photo gallery on this website, we have many photos available for review in our office.
We also offer the Mentor® Volume Sizing System, a set of flexible, silicone forms that are contoured to fit over your breasts and in a bra. With sizes that range from 150 cc to 650 cc, these forms give you a close approximation of how you could look with a variety of implant sizes.
IS SALINE OR SILICONE BEST?
When it comes to choosing between saline and silicone breast implants, there’s no right decision; each variety has its own set of pros and cons. The FDA has approved saline implants for cosmetic use in patients who are at least 18 years old, and silicone gel implants for cosmetic use in women 22 and older. There is no age restriction for either type of implant when used for breast reconstruction. Your surgeon will consider your body type, lifestyle, and desired outcome when helping you choose between saline and silicone. The chart below compares available implant types.

WHAT OTHER CHOICES DO I NEED TO MAKE?
Your surgeon will review the following additional choices that will further personalize your breast augmentation results:
- Shape: We offer both round and teardrop-shaped implants.
- Profile: You have choices for the implant width and depth (how far the implant projects outward from your chest).
- Texture: The outer covering of both saline and silicone implants is made of an elastic silicone polymer, but the surface can be smooth or textured.
